Free Lead Screenings for Toys and Yard Soil at the Wasco County Children’s Fair

North Central Public Health District (NCPHD) is excited to partner with the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) at this year’s Wasco County Children’s Fair to educate the public about the dangers of lead poisoning. OHA is offering free, confidential lead screening for soil and children’s toys on May 18th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Children’s Fair at The Dalles City Park.

Jewish Voice for Peace To Present "Not in Our Name" in Hood River May 16

Members of the Portland branch of Jewish Voice for Peace will appear in Hood River on Thursday, May 16, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., to offer a presentation titled "Not in Our Name: Why Jews join Palestinians in saying free Palestine."  The event will take place in the Riverview Room at Riverside Community Church, 317 State St., Hood River.

PSA: City of The Dalles to Remove Political Campaign Signs in the City’s Public Right-of-Way

Effective Wednesday, May 8, 2024, the City will be enforcing The Dalles Municipal Code 10.13.070.040(C) (Removal of signs in public right-of-way or on City-owned real property) and removing non-permitted political campaign signs brought to the City’s attention as being located within the City’s public right-of-way or on other City-owned real property.

Third Annual College & Career Expo Sees Largest Student Turnout Yet

The Columbia Gorge STEM Hub in collaboration with Career Connect Southwest WA and Columbia Gorge Community College hosted its third annual College & Career Expo on Friday, April 19th at CGCC’s Campus in The Dalles. 138 students from 11 high schools in the region (6 from Washington and 5 from Oregon) attended this year’s event - the largest number to date.
