The annual Fill Your Pantry Market is a chance to stock up for the winter months while also supporting local farmers and producers. The Fill Your Pantry market will be open 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 3rd at the Rockford Grange.

An infusion of $10 million federal dollars will go toward constructing showers, fish cleaning stations, clean drinking water, and sanitary sewer systems at Indian fishing sites along the Columbia River after a massive collaborative effort that was buoyed by the bipartisan infrastructure bill.

Fishing Guide's body recovered downstream of White Salmon River on Monday, sept. 30
Michael Shufeldt of Woodland, Wash., was found at about 9:48 am in the Columbia River approximately 1.75 miles west of where he was last seen near the mouth of the White Salmon River. The commercial fishing guide was the only one to perish when the wind blew up and a wave capsized his boat on Sept. 25. His six passengers were rescued.
Meteorologist recommends weather prediction tools for boaters after vessel sinks
We have 3 professional meteorologists who publish wind forecasts for the Gorge three times every summer day,” Godsey said. “While these forecasts are tailored for water sports, they could also be helpful for boaters, fishermen, and during fire events.
Sense of Place, 15th Anniversary Season Begins October 16th
Sense of Place is excited to announce the lineup for the 15th Annual Sense of Place Series. This season will feature a wide range of topics, from the cultural legacy of matsutake mushrooms to the history of mountain biking in Post Canyon. All events will be offered in person at the Columbia Center for the Arts in Hood River, Oregon, and via livestream.

HRPD Officer's DUI Stop Results in Large Drug Seizure and Arrests
On September 7th, 2024 an Officer with HRPD stopped a vehicle for exceeding the posted speed limit. During the contact, the officer who has received specialized training in the arena of controlled substance impairment, observed several signs of impairment exhibited by the driver.

Eleven local people completed Six Rivers Dispute Resolution Center’s 40-hour Basic Mediation Training in May of 2024. This training provided students with the philosophy and skills needed to have a working knowledge of the role of an impartial mediator.
Whisky Creek, Sandstone and Blister Creek Fire Update – Sept. 5
Fire managers flew over the fire and observed minor fire growth in the east fork of Herman Creek yesterday. Excess hose was pulled from Tomlike Mountain and the northeast side of the fire. Crews repaired hand line and a temporary helicopter landing spot.
Whisky Creek, Sandstone and Blister Creek Fire Update - August 29, 2024
Yesterday, after a delay for firefighter safety due to unfavorable weather conditions, the handline on Tomlike Mountain ridge was successfully connected to the fire’s edge, with air resources assisting ground crews on reconnaissance missions.
Whiskey Creek Fire near Cascade Locks 24% contained
Due to slick conditions on Tuesday, Aug. 27 following early morning rain showers crews were unable to complete the line along Tomlike Mountain Ridge. Mastication or forest vegetation grinding was completed on contingency lines to the southeast and crews continue to improve lines in these areas.
Whisky Creek and Sandstone Fire Updates - August 27, 2024
Yesterday, crews monitored the west side of the fire in the Herman Creek area, observing no fire activity. Hand crews continued work on the Tomlike Mountain ridge control line, while on the southeast edges, firefighters monitored and patrolled containment lines.
