Let The Holidays Begin - Northern Wasco People’s Utility District crews were out on Monday, Nov. 22, attaching trees to light poles in downtown The Dalles. We’re in deep now. D21 students have the week off and Dufur finishes off this afternoon. That leaves a lot of time to catch that turkey before Thursday. And good news, forecasters are calling for partially sunny skies the next two days.
Goodwill sees major savings with free energy support, coaching
Goodwill Industries of the Columbia Willamette with 38 of its 52 stores currently enrolled in this energy efficiency program has saved more than $373,000 in utility costs since enrolling in 2016. Read more about Energy Trust of Oregon’s Strategic Energy Management program here.
Gorge Students take top honors at Robotics Competition in Dufur
Dufur, OR – Gorge robotics students from The Dalles, Dufur and Hood River competed at the Dufur Hat Tip to Service VEX Robotics Tournament that took place on November 13. They did not disappoint.
From Hunter Green to Brick Red
Work continued this week at The Dalles Civic Auditorium on East Fourth St. Crews with H.B. Painters are deep into the exterior renovation. They are sealing the brick and painting the windows and walls. A new trim color was also selected - changing from hunter green to a brick red with a little black eyeliner around the windows and doors.
College Students Cleaning Up

Washington adds $2,500 benefit for those past due on energy bills
The program now runs year-round. It covers all types of heating, including propane, electric, gas, oil, coal, and wood. Those using wood sources receive a vendor voucher. The vendor would request reimbursement through Washington Gorge Action Programs (WAGAP).

Dottie Hansen and her friend made their rounds downtown The Dalles this afternoon, Monday, Nov. 1. A little rain is a cause for celebration for good things to come. Dottie said she had to get out for her walk as she is planning a trip to Orlando, Fl. for next spring. Isn’t that a great way to beat the blues?

Its massive arms held the saw as a toy, and its head twisted and contorted, with greasy hair and a countenance that bared sharp teeth and eyes that reflected orange. A maniacal laugh cut through the sound of the saw as the blades cut deeper into the wood.
