The 33rd Annual Community Clean Up will take place the first Saturday of May. The Dalles residents are encouraged to join in our annual spring cleaning event on Saturday, May 7, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Wasco County Commissioners Preview: Economic Development Goals for 2022-2023, Center for Living Makes Request for Services; 4-H and Extension to review their allotment of Google Dollars
The Wasco County Commissioners Meeting will hold their regularly scheduled meeting on May 4th, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. in person and online. This weeks meeting will include a presentation of MCEDD’s 2022-2023 economic goals, Center for Living’s request for services, and a 4-H Service District meeting to discuss google dollars.
Dunn crushes TDHS record in Triple Jump; Track team kicking at end of season
Last week, however, at The Dalles’ final home meet and at the Dean Nice invitational in Gresham on April 29 - all eyes were on Zoe Dunn’s outstanding triple jump, which smashed her personal record by nearly three feet and obliterated the school record set by Sharon Engle in 1998.

PowderPures’ Will Parkki told Councilors that COVID and labor shortages had led the plant to operate at 28 percent capacity. The Company has turned over 34 employees in the last year. He also pointed out that the company currently offers $26.44 an hour and offers 401k matching, dental and health benefits.
TD Art Center To Rock The Block this Friday at 5 p.m. No Cover; Just fun
Music and entertainment are on tap for this weekend with a plethora of events and music. Start your Friday with a free concert at The Dalles Art Center as Jenny Don’t and the Spurs will be rockin’ a block party complete with food and drinks. Streets are always open, but drinks and food start at 4:30 p.m. Music at starts at 5:15 p.m.

Get up to date on the recent Wasco County Commission Meeting. The Wasco County Commissioners Meeting held their regularly scheduled meeting at 9 a.m. on April 20th, 2022. They approved the Google community service fee agreement, declared May 6th Child Care Provider Appreciation Day, approved an elections modernization grant, and a memorandum of understanding between the The Columbia River Gorge Commission and the County.
TD Council to Chime in on Google $, Codes, tax abatements tonight, April 25
TD Councilors will look at community fee disbursements, tax abatements for PowderPure, Code Enforcement, green-lighting a contract for Dog River Pipe Replacements and will also hold an executive session to consider information or records that are exempt by law from public inspection.
Tuesday, April 26th is the Last Day to Register to Vote for the May Primary Election
Elections are happening across Oregon on Tuesday, May 17 and the deadline for citizens to register to vote or change party affiliation is Tuesday, April 26. Riverhawk Track: Seasonal Swings from Cold to Hot mirrored in personal records
By far one of the most exciting races of the afternoon was Leo Lemman’s 3000m in Oregon City on Saturday, April 23. Consistent splits, with improved leg speed from racing the 400m and 800m at Hood River got him to the front of the pack, with a scorching time of 9:05, a 13-second personal best. Junior Fiona Dunlop wrested the PR crown on Saturday’s 1500 in Oregon City, coming in at 5:36, a 24-second, all-time personal best.
Hundreds flock to TD to pound steel for public art today, April 23
Supporters of The Dalles Art Center had a huge turnout of fellow residents to help create a public sculpture on the SW corner of Second and Washington streets. Check out the videos here.

Watch for the first Cherry Fest queen at the annual parade slated for 10 a.m. in The Dalles on Saturday, April 23. The parade starts at Sixth and Webber streets (Burger King) and flows east down Third Street in downtown before heading north on Monroe Street at Optimist Printers and then returning west on Second Street to the U.S. Post office.

Julien Whitney, 23, of Yakama was up and at ‘em this morning, April 21, setting the stage for Rainier Amusements carnival on First Street downtown The Dalles. The carnival will be running Friday through Sunday for Cherry Fest.
District 21 to get big part of Google Pie with Community Service Fee Agreement
On April 20th, Wasco County Commissioners will consider approving an Intergovernmental Agreement with 11 different taxing districts to share Google community service fee dollars which comes to 25% of Google’s property tax savings with a maximum payment of $2.5 million annually.
TD Local Shines on the North Coast
Katie McCloud of The Dalles is shining on the Oregon North Coast. She was recently awarded for her outstanding social media campaign. McCloud spent a decade working in The Dalles and parlayed her experience and skill set from The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce to come up with a Rise To The Challenge campaign in Seaside that was recognized statewide.
