If I’ve learned anything from this year’s Get There Challenge, it’s that getting anywhere in the Gorge…truly is a challenge. But luckily there’s plenty of friendly faces that are willing to help you along the way.

If you could only watch one cross-country meet in the season, go out to Heppner. It’s the ultimate, stripped-down version of what the sport is all about. Dust rises from the pack of runners. Weeds crunch under spikes as a handful of spectators look out under desolately beautiful blue skies.

TD Grad takes up paddle to Finish PCT by Boat
All things must come to an end. And such is the state of the journey for TD’s Emily Peterson who will hit Canada shortly. Fires ended her hiking journey on Monday as the last 30 miles of the trail remained closed. But she was not to be deterred. She and hiker friend Sandals rented a canoe and are paddling the last 22 miles via Ross Lake.

Vaccine Clinic Boosts Sense of Community in an Isolating Time
The free Covid-19 vaccine clinic in front of La Michoacana in The Dalles on Kelly Avenue was hopping with happy patients seeking the new Omicron inclusive booster today, Sept. 30. The vibe at the clinic was very fun and upbeat compared to a typical hospital setting. “That was the most fun shot I’ve had in a while,” said Phil Brady, Wasco County Commissioner who got boosted at the clinic this afternoon.
Tacos to the rescue: Fundraiser has friends lining up & out the door
Local family gets some relief as more than 400 show up for a taco-feed fundraiser that packed the gymnasium at St. Mary’s Academy.
