Fentanyl likely cause in latest overdose death
The strength of black market fentanyl, a synthetic opioid, has resulted in multiple overdoses and deaths this year in The Dalles. Another suspected case involving a 30-year-old woman occurred just on Monday, Oct. 3, near The Dalles Library. “She probably left 60 years on the table,” said The Dalles Police Chief Tom Worthy.

Vaccine Clinic Boosts Sense of Community in an Isolating Time
The free Covid-19 vaccine clinic in front of La Michoacana in The Dalles on Kelly Avenue was hopping with happy patients seeking the new Omicron inclusive booster today, Sept. 30. The vibe at the clinic was very fun and upbeat compared to a typical hospital setting. “That was the most fun shot I’ve had in a while,” said Phil Brady, Wasco County Commissioner who got boosted at the clinic this afternoon.
4-day closures of TD Bridge restart Thursday, Sept. 29; Yep, that's tomorrow
“We need more weekend closures to complete this project, and they will resume on Thursday, September 29,” said ODOT Spokesperson Kacey Davey. Closures will begin on Thursday nights at 8 p.m. and end Monday mornings at 6 a.m., and the four-day closures could last into February of 2023.
New Fund Allows Agricultural Workers to Choose Safety When Dangerous Heat and Smoke Strike
The Climate Change Fund was created by the Oregon Legislature as part of a larger drought relief measure that also included $40 million for farmers. The funds are only available until June 2023. Workers are eligible for compensation for up to two weeks of work, or $1250, depending on their situation.

CGCC expands job training at Skills Center with the addition of CNC milling equipment through a grant funded by Google. “This equipment is part of the future of automated manufacturing -- everything from farm equipment to furniture to airplanes,” said the college’s president, Dr. Marta Cronin. “Our students can now master this technology before they enter the workforce, launching them into family-wage jobs.”

Suspected Shooter Arrested in Klickitat County
On Thursday September 15, 2022 Deputies from the Klickitat County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) arrested 30-year-old David J. “DJ” Wentworth . Wentworth was arrested near Goldendale Washington on Oregon State Parole Board warrants for violating parole. Wentworth is a suspect in the September 9th shooting of a male adult on west second street in The Dalles.
