In response to the newly approved COVID-19 vaccine for children 5-11 years old, One Community Health (OCH) is hosting a series of family-friendly COVID vaccine clinics complete with cocoa and holiday lights to help the community stay safe this holiday season.

With breezy and muddy conditions, very few Riverhawk runners saw their best times at the State Meet in Eugene this weekend, and yet both teams placed significantly better than expected.

The Dalles City Council is set to decide on Monday, Nov. 8 on whether to enter into a $28.5 million agreement with Google for a massive potable water and sewer upgrade in The Dalles.

The program now runs year-round. It covers all types of heating, including propane, electric, gas, oil, coal, and wood. Those using wood sources receive a vendor voucher. The vendor would request reimbursement through Washington Gorge Action Programs (WAGAP).

Mid Columbia Community Action Council is preparing for 10,175 shelter bed nights from November through March: more than double the number of shelter bed nights that were available last winter.

The Dalles Riverhawks football team played against the Rex Putnam Kingsmen last Friday night in The Dalles. It was a cold night and senior night for the 7 seniors on the team. A Nice Touch - Steve Kelsey with The Dalles Iron Works installed a gate at St. Peter’s Landmark on Wednesday, Nov. 3. The gateway gives the iconic former Catholic Church another interesting element for those walking the path to the meeting room on the first floor.

Local Nurses voted on Monday, Nov. 1, in favor of a contract with Mid-Columbia Medical Center that will give them a 10 percent pay increase during the next three years. And MCMC congratulated itself and the Oregon Nurses Association. It took 4 months of working out of contract and descriptions of burnout working conditions before the deal was made.

Oregon Gov. Kate Brown announced this morning that the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is authorized for children ages 5-11. Vaccine appointments are available at local doctor’s offices and several local pharmacies in The Dalles. Sherman County residents can also sign up for the vaccines at the clinic in Moro.
