The Wasco County Commissioners Meeting held their regularly scheduled meeting at 9 a.m. on February 16th, 2022 and encompassed topics such as a decrease in Covid-19 cases, MCCAC Navigation Center, purchasing a new excavator for public works, and Tri-County Waste preparing to launch a new App.

Whalin chosen to head up team to help locals on path to healthy life

Abby Brandt Whalin was chosen to head the team of Community Health Workers in White Salmon, helping locals find a path to a more healthy life. “I think working with people on their worst days makes you appreciate the rest of the days that you have. I feel privileged that people are willing to call an organization like WAGAP and share when things are really hard because that can be the hardest time to open up about your struggles,” Whalin said.

The Dalles Urban Renewal Update

Columbia Gateway Urban Renewal Agency Board held its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, February 15th 2022. The board shared updates on Urban Renewal finances, the First Street Riverfront Connection Project, the Tony’s building demolition, the Recreation Building, and more.

Local Lessons & Adventures in Learning Feb. 16

The Dalles School Teachers and D21 offer up some of the lessons and activities going on in their classrooms of late. Classes have been sending positive notes, drawing what love looks like, practicing for natural disasters. In addition, the district is working towards a strategic plan, will give a presentation on innovative learning on Thursday and is currently hiring for summer school.

Everything's Golden in TD

Larry Coyner, 62, of The Dalles took a nice break on the bench outside the Recreation Building in downtown The Dalles today, Wednesday, Feb. 16. He and his golden retriever Decoy were soaking up the sun as Sol is delivering us another solid. Warm temps in the high 50s and low 60s are expected through Sunday.
