Pure Yoga, a yoga studio in The Dalles known for its free community classes for youth and adults, work with local schools and libraries, and its passionate instructors, celebrated its 15 years of business and service to the community on Friday March 31, 2023.

Reports of toilets flushing in the reverse direction in different locations around the Gorge have been flooding in for several days. Counterclockwise water has been seen swirling about in several different thrones around town. We took to the streets to see if other folks had witnessed this strange phenomenon.

Students from three D21 Elementary Schools took to the kitchen yesterday, March 29th to compete for the coveted title of ‘Top Chef’. Megan, the daughter of Klickitat County Assistant Fire Chief Todd Kindler, was lifeflighted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Joe Burgess also suffered severe injuries and was taken to a separate hospital. They have undergone multiple surgeries and there are still more to come.

A fire was reported at the Cherry Blossom apartments in the Dalles Oregon, today March 28th at 5:22 p.m. Mid-Columbia Fire and Rescue, The Dallas City Police and Dallesport, Fire District responded to the scene and quickly stemmed the blaze before it could spread to other apartment units. The occupant of the apartment was at home at the time of the blaze and managed to evacuate himself and his dog from the apartment safely.

The Dalles police responded to a 29-year-old woman found unconscious in a pickup truck at The Dalles First United Methodist Church on 11th Street adjacent to The Dalles High School on Monday, March 27.

A passerby reported the vehicle had no lights on and the vehicle appeared to be unoccupied. When Police arrived a short time later to check on the vehicle, they found a male laying in the middle of the bridge. 

Detectives from the Wasco County Sheriff’s Office, the Wasco County District Attorney’s Office, and the Major Crimes Team provided an update today in regards to their continued investigation into the homicide of Amanda Harman, age 35 of The Dalles, OR.

This week the Columbia Gorge Resolution Center (CGRC) received more than $9 million from the Oregon Health Authority. Thanks to grants for the OHA as well as various other grants the Resolution Center is now fully funded with the amount of funds raised coming it at around $14 million as of this morning March 27th, 2023.

“It was so worth it,” said Arianne Walker of fighting off the freezing cold in soaked jeans on Saturday, March 25, while washing dozens of cars in The Dalles. “We ended up raising with what Tara contributed from bagels and donations, we ended up with $3,500.”

Kim Hamberg with Gorge-Us-Greens offered tastings of microgreens at the Sunday Market in The Dalles at the 6th Street Station on March 26. These small clippings from cantaloupe, chard, and sunflowers were pretty tasty on a Sunday afternoon.
