During the arraignment, additional details about Newman’s relationship with Cagle were revealed so that Wasco County Circuit Court Judge John Olson could decide on a bail amount to ensure that Newman would return to court and not flee from prosecution. Washington family seeks justice after finding strange circumstances surrounding the death of 29-year-old Alex Cagle who was found in a U-Haul rental pickup next to a combustion trash pump in a church parking lot in The Dalles on March 27. 60-year-old Joseph Carl Newman of The Dalles is now facing a second-degree manslaughter charge in connection with the death.
