Members from the Portland branch of the American Guild of Organists (AGO) caught wind that we here in The Dalles boast five pipe organs, while many towns across the country our size have none. AGO contacted local organist Garry Estep to see about arranging an impromptu “organ crawl” so that some of their members might get literally “hands-on” to see what we have.

Voter turnout on whether to build a new high school in The Dalles started lagging behind last week and Election Day is tomorrow, Nov. 7th with a firm deadline of 8 p.m. If you’re going to vote, do it now and make your voice heard.

The first-time event headed up by the board at the Home At Last animal shelter saw a great crowd as additional chairs and tables were called for as the room swelled to over 60 people.

A Dia de los Muertos celebration at The Dalles Wasco County Library, saw an enormous attendance of over 250 community members last night, November 2nd from 5-7:30 p.m. The event included a resource fair, live music performances from Janelle Santos, and Los Renagados, dancing, pastries, tacos from Tacos Tumbras, hot camelia (a sweet cinnamon spiced herbal tea), ofrendas, crafts, lotería (a game of chance similar to bingo), face painting and a raffle.

Wild Brew cafe, located at 418 E Second St in The Dalles opened for business yesterday. In fact, the cafe was so full of patrons looking to support the grand opening that the cafe had run out of mozzarella cheese for their pizzas!

Jeremy Lee Anderson, 50, is one of two men who forced their way into Lewis’ house while he was home on Jan. 22. 2021. The men pistol-whipped and beat him.

Besides his wife, Jennifer, there were others who had a significant influence on Russell Spino’s life at TDHS. Mr. Rolen, Mr. Radford, and Mr. Kramer were always there for him. He’s grateful they encouraged him to finish high school. These men all believed in him and that made him believe in himself.

Spreading holiday cheer is top of mind for Cheri Michaelson and Miki Caldwell of the "Elfing Elks," a group of ladies, members, spouses, and community members supporting the Mt. Adams Elks Lodge #1868 in White Salmon. 

GOBHI has made preparations to sell its former property at 401 E. 3rd St. to Wasco County. The downtown 3rd Street building would serve as office space for county staff and existing tenants. The price for the building last stood at $3.8 million. The two-story building sits on .52 acres - Tom Peterson
