New weight limits go into effect for the Hood River-White Salmon Bridge on Friday, March 1, 2024. Port Commissioners decreased the load rating to 32 tons back in December 19, 2023 when they adopted Resolution No. 2023-24-9.

After years of negotiations and a decades long court battle over dam operations, a historic partnership agreement has been signed by President Joe Biden, the Governors of Washington and Oregon and the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, Yakama, Umatilla, and Nez Perce, to restore wild salmon populations, expand clean energy production, and reinforce the economic benefits of the Columbia River system.

Participating restaurants in Hood River, Wasco, and Sherman Counties are teaming up to offer delicious grilled cheese sandwiches, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Columbia Gorge Food Bank to aid hunger relief efforts throughout the Gorge.
