Friday Deadline for Free COVID Tests from Federal Government
Possibly the last chance to get free COVID-19 tests mailed to your home from the U.S. government is coming to an end later this week. This Friday, March 8, is the last day to order the free tests. The program is being suspended after Friday.

FREE Disaster Movie Marathon on March 13
On March 13, 2024, the City of The Dalles and Wasco County will host a free Disaster Movie Marathon at Columbia Cinema, located at 2727 W 7th St. in The Dalles. Members of the public are invited to watch a variety of disaster-themed movies, enjoy free snacks, prizes and take part in a community survey on disaster prepardeness.
Wonderworks Children's Museum is Reopening
After being closed since October 1, 2023, due to financial challenges, Wonderworks Children's Museum has announced that it will reopen to the public on March 27, 2024. The museum is still in search of additional donations, funding, and volunteers to help with daily operations, so the museum will be reopened in phases.
The Dalles Library Hosts 'Treasure Island' Community Read
The Dalles Wasco County Public Library will host a “Treasure Island” community read this March 2024. Community members can pick up a free copy of the book and enjoy a month of pirate themed events celebrating Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novel.

Immigrant Help Center to Open in Hood River on March 18
Hood River Latino Network and the Rural Organizing Project received the keys to open up an Immigrant Help Center (IHC) at 1406 12th St, Suite 2, in Hood River, this week. The IHC will act as a community hub and wrap around service center. Programming will include cultural events, leadership skills development, and assistance navigating mental and health services.
