Pond Skimmers at Meadows crash, burn, enjoy 64 degree day
In grand tradition, Mt. Hood Meadows held its 2023 Pond Skim contest where water from the snow melt is collected at the bottom of the hill and snowboarders and skiers attempt to hydroplane across the pond after a quick run down the hill. There was some success today and some ears filled with water. Check it out here.
Career Day at Columbia High Prepares Students for the Future
Columbia High School hosted a Career Day for high school students from White Salmon and the surrounding area to further their knowledge of careers available to them in their region on April 26th, 2023.
HR's lone pipe organ saved, repaired, ready for debut at Riverside Com. Church
The Rodger Schock Community Organ will be introduced at a free concert open to all, featuring several acclaimed musicians, on Saturday, May 13 at 7 p.m. Prior to the concert, the community is also invited to purchase a ticket to a dinner in Riverside’s Riverview Room, prepared by Chef Kathy Watson and the Riverside kitchen team.

The Group Launching Campaign for New High School Invites Community to Brunch or Wine, this weekend
A local group of citizens has launched a campaign in a bid to gain community support around building a new high school in The Dalles. The events this weekend and website launch, VoteYESTDHS.org is an initiative of the Political Action Committee, North Wasco Strong Community Schools, and aims to build advocacy and rally community support around the goal for a new high school initiative.

Hood River & Trails - that's like bread & butter; Celebrate Indian Creek Trail Extension on April 22
Columbia Land Trust and Hood River Valley Parks and Rec. is set to hold a ribbon-cutting event on Earth Day, April 22, to celebrate a new half-mile section of the Indian Creek Trail in Hood River. Towards the southern end, there is a nice viewpoint overlooking the Hood River. The land the trail is on adjoins the 400-acre Powerdale Natural Area, which Columbia Land Trust stewards for fish and wildlife habitat, public recreation, and tribal fishing access.
Scholars to speak on HR's Yasui Bro's and their shaping of Japanese American history on April 15
