D21 Education Foundation looking to raise $10k, reports on 2020 impact

Dirt Hugger Deal Adds Storage Employees, Eliminates Methane
Dirth Hugger composting has expanded again. And they’re not gassing us. They are actually eliminating 55,000 tons of green waste from being dumped at local landfills. If not diverted, that much tonnage could produce massive amounts of methane, a significant contributor to greenhouse gasses. Methane is 25 times more potent than carbon dioxide, according to the EPA.

Mike Morena, 36, of The Dalles controls a Tracmow remote control lawnmower at Dry Hollow Elementary this morning. The mower on tracks is capable of cutting the steep hillsides at the school, while the operator can safely walk behind it.

The Dalles Houseless Shelters to Remain Open Until September
The Dalles Houseless Shelters will not be shutting down operation on March 31st thanks to some hard digging into Municipal code by The City of The Dalles in partnership with Mid Columbia Community Action Council. The City of The Dalles has decided that the temporary shelter site operated by MCCAC is within the public right-of-way* and the City has granted MCCAC a temporary license to use the right-of-way to continue operating a temporary shelter site effective April 1st.

The Dalles Lock Set to Open After Emergency Repairs
The locks were originally set to reopen on the 21st but ten additional days of repairs became necessary due to the discovery of cracking in the downstream miter gate during annual inspections by engineers.
