The Road Less Traveled TD Cross Country Travels to Heppner for 5K Race; Sets Several PR's

As random as a field near Heppner may seem, and despite the crunchy stubble underfoot, the course is remarkably flat and forgiving; the home team, coached by Russ Nichols, is consistently strong and competitive: both good reasons why over a dozen teams, including the Riverhawks, TDMS Wildcats, and St. Mary’s- came to run the Mustang Invitational last Thursday.

TDHS Girls Soccer Beat Hood River for the First Time in 13 Seasons

The Dalles Riverhawks soccer team played the Hood River Valley Eagles yesterday in The Dalles. The Hawks haven’t beaten HRV in 13 seasons and the Hawks were ready to beat that streak. The last time these two teams played HRV beat the Hawks in double overtime in the IMC playoffs. The Hawks were out for revenge and succeeded at getting it winning 2-1.

Post Canyon Parking Fees coming soon? HR County to consider ordinance Oct. 18

Annual or daily parking permits would be purchased for $30 or $5 respectively, valid at all county Fee Parking Zones between dawn and dusk. Fee Parking Zones would be added to properties in county forestlands near popular recreation areas including Post Flats, Seven Streams, Family Man, Binns Hill, Kingsley Reservoir and Pinemont.

Local nurses to rally on Thursday, Oct. 7 prior to mediated negotiations with Mid-Columbia Medical Center over staffing, scheduling and wages. A recent petition and letter pushed under the door of MCMC Executive Director Dennis Knox states “the administration of Mid-Columbia Medical Center is failing us, our patients and our entire community.”

Wheels of Hope provided Tiffany McLaren and her sons a 2014 Ford Focus SE to help them meet their daily travel needs. Tiffany’s son Micah, 11 years old, has a rare vascular disease, has gone through 2 brain surgeries and has ongoing therapy appointments. Tiffany was without a vehicle and relied on others for transportation.
