D21 Chief Financial Officer Kara Flath has been working collaboratively with the Wasco County Tax Assessor’s office over the last several months to ensure estimated tax numbers related to the potential bond coincide with the most recent tax assessments. These numbers will help the district better understand, and subsequently respond, to concerns regarding the bond cost when it comes to individual impacts.

Innovations Academy located in the former Wahtonka High School recently released its first Blue Phoenix Report. The newsletter is the work of several students in Julia Cardiel’s publications class in room 216. Writers and students Kimberly Cisneros, Abigail Porritt, AJ Cardenas-Gresio and Tomas Blas Morales are all contributors to this edition.

Arturo Dominguez's grit and determination have led him to restart his jewelry business at 409 Lincoln St., The Dalles. He said it was especially uplifting to receive so much help from the local community so that he could make it happen after a fire destroyed his shop in May.

Cindy Nimmo said she was sitting behind the drop-off counter on the phone with Bohn’s printing when suddenly a car came crashing through the front door, scaring the daylights out of her.
