Wasco County Sheriff Lane Magill running for another term
Wasco County Sheriff Lane Magill has thrown his hat in the ring for the primary election on May 21, 2024. Thus far Magill and County Assessor Jill Amery are the only two incumbents that have committed to running for their respective positions. However, Chrissy Zaugg is looking to step up into County Clerk Lisa Gambee’s shoes as she will not run again.

Discover Nature's Secrets: Sense of Place Series Returns for Season 14 in Hood River
Sense of Place is excited to announce the line-up for the 14th annual Sense of Place Series. This season will feature a wide range of topics from beavers to wildfires and pears to insects. All events will be offered in person at the Columbia Center for the Arts in Hood River, Oregon, and via livestream.
Swords, Muskets, Black Powder Demos on Oct. 7 in TD
The public is invited to attend the 2023 Wasco County Historical Society’s Annual Meeting. The program comes with a fantastic show of living history. The society welcomes Frontier Living History with the Sons of the Union Veterans of The Civil War. This will include swords, muskets, uniforms, currency, rations, tents and black powder demonstrations.

Suspect in TD death now facing attempted murder charge in Bend
Zachary Jean Krohnke, 32, of La Pine, who is a suspect in the death of a woman in The Dalles, is being held in Deschutes County Jail on no bail in relation to another case where he allegedly attempted to murder an escort in Bend on Aug. 28th.
