The Dalles Downtown Trick or Treat is Back
The Dalles Main Street announced that they were bringing back their popular Downtown Trick or Treat event this year on October 29th from 3:00pm to 5:00pm.
Fall Harvest Festival set near Maupin on Sat., Oct. 9
It turns out that the climate near Maupin is perfect for pumpkins and Farmer Bob Kruger has some of the largest, most perfect, pumpkins he's ever grown. He’s also got a little harvest fest going this weekend. Read here to check out the lineup of musicians.
Sense of Place Lecture: The Unusual Mushrooms of Cascadia
Michael Beug will give a lecture on the ‘fungus among us’ in the Cascade region. Beug started mushrooming in 1969 and has discovered more than 50 new mushroom species in the Pacific Northwest.

50-Year Vision Quest Brings Once In a Lifetime Photography Experience to the Gorge
World renowned photographer and Mosier resident John Chao invites the public to share a once-in-a-lifetime experience at MoonMountain Highway in Bingen on September 25th, from 6-9 p.m. Chao will display a series of his mega-photographs for the first time ever and will give a talk about his new book 50-Year Vision Quest, a penned memoir composed of 500 photographs taken over his 50 year adventure with the camera.

The Local Dish: Fried Chick Bliss at The Riv
The fried chicken sandwich was towering over my plate. This sandwich had jaw-dropping fluffy buns that had a formidable squish that is indicative of freshly made bread. It instantly transported me to my grandmother’s house eating hot buttered rolls.

Discovery Center offers free interpretive walk on full moon, Sept. 20
Take a Harvest Moon walk, Monday, September 20th under the full moon on The Dalles’ Riverfront Trail. Enjoy a one-hour interpretive nature walk with a Columbia Gorge Discovery Center astronomer and guide. Meet in front of Columbia Gorge Discovery Center and Museum at 6:45 p.m. Sunset is at 7:05 p.m., and the full moon rises at 7:28 p.m.

Calling Portland home, Batten has assembled a lineup of NW musicians for her new band, Full Steam, who specialize in 80s rock covers. They’re set to play Thursday in Hood River.
