This week’s question of the week asks people in our community to open up and share something about themselves that others in our community might not know about them.

Abby Brandt Whalin was chosen to head the team of Community Health Workers in White Salmon, helping locals find a path to a more healthy life. “I think working with people on their worst days makes you appreciate the rest of the days that you have. I feel privileged that people are willing to call an organization like WAGAP and share when things are really hard because that can be the hardest time to open up about your struggles,” Whalin said.

Larry Coyner, 62, of The Dalles took a nice break on the bench outside the Recreation Building in downtown The Dalles today, Wednesday, Feb. 16. He and his golden retriever Decoy were soaking up the sun as Sol is delivering us another solid. Warm temps in the high 50s and low 60s are expected through Sunday.

Because of thoughtful and caring people like you, The Next Door’s year-end fundraising campaign had its most successful year yet, surpassing the $200,000 goal and raising over $217,000 to support The Next Door’s many programs!

During the years 1825-’26 Douglas explored the Columbia River and its tributaries, wintering over at Fort Vancouver. His journeys on the river included an overnight in The Dalles. Later explorations took him to California and eventually to Hawaii where he met an untimely death.
