At the end of today, Oct. 25th, we have received 2447 ballots back from our 14,659 eligible voters for a 16.69% participation rate.
Goldendale Boy’s XC Team Wins the EWAC League Title for 3rd consecutive year
Throughout these races on Oct. 19 at the Goldendale Golf Course, coaches and spectators alike were trying to determine where their teams sat for the overall title. At the end of the day, the Goldendale Timberwolves edged out Cle Elum/Rosyln for the first-place hardware.

The Dalles Library Hosts Spooky Community Read for Halloween
The Dalles Wasco County Library will host a month’s worth of events centered around Neil Gaiman’s Newbery award winning The Graveyard Book, tale about a boy who is raised by ghosts. Library card holders can stop in, grab a free copy of the book or graphic novel and register to participate in a group discussion of the book at the Pioneer Cemetery on Oct. 28.

Make that a double! Art is getting completely out of control in downtown TD. Two murals in two weeks now add to the 15 that went up last summer. We at CCCNews believe we have now met critical mass. Who knows where this might end up? At the paint store, at minimum.
Sorosis Park to Get New Playground Structure
The Sorosis Park rehabilitation project has hit a new milestone today. The North Wasco County Parks and Recreation District (NWPRD) has successfully secured an Oregon State Parks grant amounting to $420,000, which will cover 60% of the estimated $700,000 replacement cost for the TreeTop playground structure at Sorosis Park. NWPRD will cover the remaining 40% of the cost, meaning the project to replace the TreeTop play structure is now fully funded.

Yvonne Pepin-Wakefield of The Dalles has released her third book, Path of Totality, about living in a log cabin in Oregon’s Strawberry Mountain Wilderness. She will be visiting communities throughout the gorge as well as Condon.

The Dalles High School class of 1953 held their class reunion this past weekend, meeting at Spooky’s on Friday, Sept. 22, and then at Cousin’s on Saturday, Sept. 23 for breakfast.
