Riverside Gymnastics making it work- but for how long?

Harper Kane shows off some fancy footwork at a recent Riverside Gymnastics Academy outdoor practice. The statewide freeze on athletic clubs is putting the kibosh on indoor activities. So coach Audrey Hinatsu took it outside. Closures, however, are sacking revenue generators for nonprofit clubs such as Riverside as well as privately run athletic clubs. The Oregon Health and Fitness Alliance is asking Gov. Kate Brown to allow limited reopenings.

Terry Armentrout of The Dalles was getting after it early this morning, Tuesday, Dec. 15. The 73-year-old said he rides 16 miles on weekdays. Park and restoration planned for Mouth of Klickitat River

The Forest Service and Klickitat Trout Unlimited are proposing a new site development in efforts of enhancing recreation opportunities at the mouth of the Klickitat River. Plans call for adding parking, prohibiting the launch of motorized boats, installing a restroom, and restoring natural vegetation, and eliminating erosion. The proposal intends to improve water quality, scenery, and vegetation in the lower Klickitat National Wild and Scenic River Corridor.

Wight said it was a tough year fishing for pikeminnow so far, noting he has to avoid a lot more pelicans with his fishing line when tossing his imitation bate off The Dalles bridge. Good days bring 20 to 30 fish. His best is 48 so far this season. Past years brought double that in a day’s plunking. At $5 to $8 a fish, it’s still worthwhile.
