Thirty year old Kyndal Ray, is walking across America for Mental Health Awareness, Recovery, and Habits 365. Kyndal started his journey on January 1st, 2022, with his feet in the Atlantic Ocean at the Jacksonville Beach Pier in Florida. He is heading northwest to put his feet in the Pacific Ocean in Long Beach, Washington, on Wednesday April 12th, 2023, which is his four-year drug-free date.

Wasco County Commissioners Approve Overdose Prevention Funding
Wasco County Commissioners held their regular meeting on Wednesday, April 5th, 2023 at 9 a.m. and approved several important items on the agenda. At the top of the list was the YouthThink Overdose Prevention Subcontract between Wasco County and North Central Public Health District which was approved, and will provide much-needed support for the prevention of drug overdoses in local communities.

Thanks to OHA Grant Columbia Gorge Resolution Center Is Now Fully Funded
This week the Columbia Gorge Resolution Center (CGRC) received more than $9 million from the Oregon Health Authority. Thanks to grants for the OHA as well as various other grants the Resolution Center is now fully funded with the amount of funds raised coming it at around $14 million as of this morning March 27th, 2023.

TD Youth Soccer League Seeks Community Support with GoFundMe
Westside Metros FC in the Gorge, is organizing a GoFundMe campaign to bring more soccer goal nets to The Dalles area in Oregon. Locally, over 1,000 players share just four soccer goal nets. But with the help of the community Westside Metros hopes to add four more goal nets to keep kids active and engaged in the sport.

Homicide investigation underway at Cherry Heights in Wasco County
The neighborhood of Cherry Heights, just outside The Dalles, was shaken by the discovery of a suspicious death on March 18, 2023. According to a press release from the Wasco County Sheriff's Office, the investigation into the death is ongoing and further information will be released as appropriate. Amanda Harman has been identified as the victim.
First Phase of The Dalles Storm Water Catch Basin Project Begins Today March 20
The City of The Dalles Public Works Department has announced that it will begin the first phase of a storm water catch basin project on E. 4th Street and Union Street on March 20, 2023. The project's first construction area will be on E. 4th Street between Union and Court Streets, and the work is expected to be completed on March 22, 2023.

Library District accuses city of violating agreement, Wasco County declares drought emergency and discusses state's denial of houselessness emergency
During their March 15th, 2023 meeting, Wasco County Commissioners heard public testimony from the Wasco County Public Library board concerning alleged IGA violations by the City of The Dalles, declared a state of drought emergency, and discussed the State denying the county’s declaration of a state of emergency concerning homelessness.
