A black sports car seen here is leaving the area of a shooting at Ninth and Bridge streets in The Dalles on Aug. 17. The driver of a Dodge Charger reported 9 minutes later that his window had been shot out.

Theresa Dwyer’s home at 909 Union Street was recently given the Beautification Award for August in The Dalles. The home provides a splendid pallet of color for passers-by, and I am sure the neighbors don’t mind the site through their windows, either.
The Lost Interview with White Salmon's Wayo Hogan
Performing since he was 14 years old, Hogan’s life and musical journey has taken him from the rockabilly swinging 1960s of England to a communal lifestyle in southern Oregon in the 1970s. He’s a pioneer of Seattle’s underground music scene. Hogan says “he was there” when bands like Nirvana and Soundgarden became Grunge Gods and put Seattle on the map as a source of new music culture.

He started humbly with a Mazda 626 that he sold behind his Dad’s back to get a Honda Civic, a move his girlfriend and now wife appreciated.
Soft White Wheat coming in neat
More than a dozen wheat trucks were lined up this morning, July 27, at Mid-Columbia Producers as the soft white wheat harvest is underway locally and regionally. First glances are noting that yields in some fields are bringing a crop that is 25 to 40 percent above average likely due to the extra rains in May and June.

TD Council approves equipment purchases, funds police computers
The Dalles City Council gave the green light on the purchase of equipment and lease of computers costing in total some $440,000 at their regular meeting on Monday, July 11.

Discovery Center offers Kayak Adventure July 19th
Leaving the Hook in Hood River, guests will launch on the Columbia River, paddling and exploring the landscape with guides from Hood River SUP and Kayak. Guides and educators will lead discussions on local birds and the cultural and ecological history of the area throughout the excursion. All kayaking gear and guides are included with the trip reservation.
Helicopter rescue on Mt. Hood retrieves seriously injured hiker
Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies launched a search-and-rescue mission after a climber fell several hundred feet near the Old Chute area of Mt. Hood. The climber was transported off the mountain with serious injuries to an area hospital.
TD Parade just the beginning; First Corps ARMY Rock Band ready to jam
