The MCCAC Board of Directors will soon convene to appoint an interim Executive Director and  begin searching for a permanent Executive Director.  “The entire board and I are so grateful for Kenny’s visionary leadership, fundraising prowess, and  courage as MCCAC’s Executive Director these past few years,” said Wasco County Commissioner and MCCAC Board Secretary Phil Brady.

The Wahtonka Pantry is one of five food pantries in The Dalles that looks to stem hunger which leads to to significant social effects including reduced educational attainment, strained family dynamics, mental health issues and a perpetuation of poverty and inequality, particularly affecting communities already marginalized by socioeconomic factors - such as unaffordable housing.

Dispute resolution processes can be used to resolve any type of dispute including family, neighborhood, employment, business, housing, personal injury, consumer, and environmental disputes.

The 2024 CHA found that the lack of affordable housing and access to medical and behavioral health care, ranging from adequate services of all care types to workforce development opportunities, are opportunities to improve health across Wasco and Hood River Counties.

This March, Columbia Gorge Food Bank invites local restaurants to join the second annual Great Gorge Melt — an opportunity to make a real difference in the movement against hunger across Wasco, Hood River and Sherman Counties.

The Columbia Gorge Humane Society is proud to announce the successful completion of a free spay and neuter clinic that served 92 pets from low-income families. This initiative, aimed at curbing pet overpopulation, would not have been possible without the invaluable support of the City of The Dalles.

With elevated operating costs for parts, chemicals, insurance, fuel and labor, local wheat growers were hoping that prices would jump above $7.50 a bushel to make their endeavors above break-even. Prices are hovering around $6 a bushel and now the US Congress has approved payments to keep farmers whole.

Local student musicians joined Rock Violinist Aaron Meyer and his band on stage. Their passion, talent, and energy added an extra special touch to the event, making the celebration even more memorable.

30 local nonprofit partners with United Way were invited to submit nominations for individuals in need of transportation. The final decision was made by a team from Underriner Ford & Nissan in The Dalles, which also volunteered time to ensure the car was in excellent, safe, and reliable condition.

There are 100 students in need of various items this winter including jackets, gloves, socks, shoes, card games, board games, etc. There holiday wishes are in envelopes with ages on them located on the tree at the entry of Freebridge Brewing, 710 E. 2nd St., The Dalles. Mr. Wood, a Walla Walla/Cree Native, is a composer, singer, and performer of Cree Style Round Dance and Pow Wow music. Thanks to a generous grant from the Wasco County Cultural Trust, Mr. Wood will also perform for the students of Chenowith Elementary School on the afternoon of December 13. The Chenowith program will also include a student performance by the Eagle Quest Drum Group.

This November, Mt. Adams Institute (MAI), a non-profit based in Trout Lake, WA, is inviting the community to “Invest in Connection and Conservation” with their end-of-year giving campaign. Donations will support MAI’a Vetswork, Land Stewards, and Sense of Place programs which work to strengthen Veterans, youth, and our communities' connection to nature.
