If you’ve been thinking that the weather has made it feel more like June than March this past week you’d be right. The US National Weather Service reported record breaking temperatures for March in Dallesport, WA and several other locations in the Pendleton Service area yesterday.
Edward Hastings, 96, was a sophomore at The Dalles High School when he got the call to be a volunteer firefighter. He slept in the fire hall and jumped from the third story of the US National Bank into a safety net held by other volunteers. He was also one of the first to walk the halls of the current-day TDHS after it opened in 1942.
We are looking forward to seeing you all at the annual meeting on May 6, 2023. It is always a great time to catch up with old friends and meet new ones. We are meeting at a new venue this year, the St. Mary’s Academy (school) located at 1112 Cherry Heights Road.

The Oregon Historical Society (OHS) is proud to host a free public program on Saturday, April 15, where scholars and community leaders will discuss the history of the Yasui Brothers’ Store in Hood River. The program will take place at 2 pm at the Columbia Center for the Arts in Hood River and will be followed by a casual reception with light refreshments.
