Pine Hollow and surrounding community shower donations on fire victim
Mike Mooney of Pine Hollow escaped a trailer fire with his health and not much else on Nov. 13. “There was nothing left to do but sit and wait for the fire department,” he said of watching his home burn. An outpouring of contributions is helping the 72-year-old rebound from the devastating fire.
Putting the Community Back into Community Meals
Holidays are all about celebrating with our community. In the spirit of community helping community, this year Salvation Army will serve a free community carry-out Thanksgiving meal from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM on November 25th, 2021 at St. Mary’s Academy.

A local couple that was struck by 1955 Chevy Bel Air after it flipped during a burnout during the 2018 Neon Nights cruise downtown The Dalles has settled a lawsuit with the City of The Dalles and The Dalles Main Street Program.
Diego Contreras crushes TDHS Cross Country record by 10 seconds
Since 1997, Scott Limbach’s 5K record of 15:35 had stood like a challenge - or a taunt - on the high school wall. Juan Diego Contreras obliterated the cross country time on Saturday at Lakewood High School at a smoking 15 minutes, 25 seconds, beating the 24-year-old mark.

Do you live in Hood River County and need a photo identification? If so time is running out to get or renew your Hood River County (HRC) Community ID card by December 31st. The program ends at the end of this year. The card is valid for two years.
Gorge Youth hold Climate Change Vigils
The group has been holding vigils in front of the salmon fountain in downtown Hood River on Fridays from 4:30-5:00 for the past seven weeks and is part of a growing climate justice organization called, “Fridays for the Future,” as the long-term sustainability of the planet is becoming more and more uncertain.

The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce (TDACC) presents “I Spy Christmas” the 32nd Annual Starlight Parade and Community Tree Lighting on November 26th, 2021. New to the event this year is a Country festival prior to the parade.
1st Annual Turkey Trot scheduled for, you guessed it, Thanksgiving
The first annual Turkey Trot event in The Dalles will be held on Thanksgiving, Nov. 25th. There are two different runs at the event. The first is a 5k run/walk or there’s a family fun 1-mile run. The event begins at 8 AM at Lewis and Clark and the 5k walk/run will be along the Riverfront Trail.
TDHS Winter Sports Have Huge Turnout
Just two weeks until winter sports for The Dalles High School kicks off with a basketball jamboree. And after talking to Atheltic Director Billy Brost, winter sports has an amazing turnout. TDHS will put a total six basketball teams on the court. Yes, 6.
Alleged Shaniko Shooter captured in Skamania County
KOIN 6 News is reporting that Logan Cantwell, wanted for a shooting in Wasco County, is now in custody in Skamania County. Oregon law enforcement officials have been searching for Cantwell since Saturday, Nov. 13. It is alleged he fired on a deputy near Shaniko at around 8:45 a.m.

Shea MacNab Named Head Coach of TDHS Swim Team
The Dalles High School athletic department recently announced the hiring of Shea MacNab as the new head swim coach. MacNab, a 1994 graduate of The Dalles High School, returns for his second stint as the head coach.
TD Council to be asked to join fight against climate change at Nov. 22 meeting
A number of Gorge cities have already taken action on climate change, including Hood River, White Salmon, Bingen and Mosier. The Columbia Gorge Climate Action Network will be asking The Dalles to do the same as global efforts are on to curtail the rise in Earth’s temperature. Read more here.
Cantwell at Large in Corbett Area; Residents Told Shelter in Place
The search for an armed and dangerous man believed to be in the Corbett area prompted a reverse 911 call for residents to shelter in place, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office tweeted.
Logan Cantwell, who is wanted for attempted murder in Wasco County, is believed to be in that area, officials confirmed.

District Attorney charges fugitive with Attempted Murder; Cantwell still at large
Wasco County District Attorney Matthew Ellis announced that Logan Cantwell is being charged with Attempted Murder in the First Degree after allegedly firing a gun at a Wasco County Deputy near Shaniko on the Morning of Nov. 13.
Shooter still at large in Mid-Columbia; SWAT team called to TD on Saturday, Nov. 13
Police are still searching for a 23-year-old local man after he reportedly led a Wasco County Deputy on a chase to a mile outside of Shaniko on Saturday morning, Nov. 13., where police report he fired on the deputy. A SWAT team was called out to a neighborhood in west The Dalles, but no arrest was made.
