Local Family Fights to Save Lake Taco with Kickstarter
Lake Taco, an authentic family Mexican restaurant run by Maria and Enrique Ortega located at 1213 June Street in The Heights of Hood River, is in danger of closing its doors forever. But this family run business isn’t going down without a fight. Lake Taco has started a Kickstarter to help them raise $40,000 to get their business up and running at their new location (606 Oak St.) in downtown Hood River.
Green grass and trees return to Sorosis Park; more plantings to come
North Wasco County Parks and Recreation Executive Director Scott Baker said he was pleased to report that NWCPRD has installed new irrigation, reseeded the lawn, and completed some tree plantings at Sorosis Park as a part of phase one of the Sorosis rehabilitation project.

Turkey Trot in The Dalles on Thanksgiving could bring a lot of gravy to The Dalles Backpack Program. Columbia Gorge Motors will match all proceeds dollar for dollar this year and give it to the volunteer program that sends backpacks of food home with local students each week.
Free 3-Day Vaccine Clinic Nov. 17th-19th
North Central Public Health District will host a free 3-day vaccine and flu shot clinic at 523 E. 3rd St in The Dalles on November 17th, 18th, and 19th from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The clinic will have JYNNEOS vaccines against monkeypox, Pfizer, Moderna, and the Novavax COVID-19 vaccines, and regular flu shots not specially formulated for seniors.

A hardy crowd turned out for the Veterans Day Parade today, Nov. 11, in downtown The Dalles. Parade watchers donned coats, blankets, caps, and gloves to combat temps in the mid-30s.
Veterans Day Parade on Tap for Friday, Nov. 11, in TD
Our event will start with a flyover in honor of our veterans at 11 a.m., according to an announcement from The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce. The parade will begin at the corner of Webber and 6th streets next to Burger King. It will Continue east on Sixth and then roll onto 3rd Street and then west on 2nd Street where it will end at The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce.
Pride Alliance to host Gothic-themed Prom
Get ready for a night of spooky fun! The Columbia Gorge Pride Alliance’s (CGPA) Gothic MasQUEERade is an all-ages dance for LGBTQ+ folx and allies throughout the Gorge. The Masqueerade will be November 12th from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. in historic Hood River Hotel’s Emerald Room.

You have until 8 p.m. to get your ballots dropped off today, Tuesday, Nov. 8. And all ballot boxes in Oregon are open until 8 p.m. regardless of weather conditions.
