The Columbia River Gorge Commission and their community partners will host several events for Gorge Latino Conservation Week from Thursday, July 20th through Saturday, July 22nd.

A low-pressure gas line was hit on Garfield Street in White Salmon on July 14, 2023.  Emergency crews are on the scene and going house to house to give notice of evacuation to required properties.

Fire managers say the Boulder Fire is now 10 percent contained and a revised estimate of the blaze shows it at 238 acres. The incident team is loaded with personnel and equipment to battle the blaze burning in downed timber in steep terrain. At the same time, firefighters are continuing to seek out hotspots and flare-ups on the Deschutes River and Devils Butte fires which charred thousands of acres.

The Dalles, OR, July 13, 2023— Sherman County Sheriff’s office posted on their facebook that Deschutes State Park is at a level 3 (Go Now) evacuation. More information will be shared as soon as possible.

Goldendale, WA, July 13, 2023 - A rapidly spreading wildfire was reported at 3:15 p.m. today on Knight Road near Goldendale, prompting immediate evacuation orders and a swift response from firefighting agencies. The fire is estimated to be at 100 acres at this time.

The Dalles Art Center will host 2 Under 25 a show featuring two artists under the age of 25, with unique styles and approaches to their work. An opening night reception, will be held on, Thursday, August 3rd, from 5-7 p.m.; the show will be on display at TDAC through Saturday, August 26th.

The Boulder Fire, which ignited near Boulder Lake Trailhead in Mt. Hood National Forest's Barlow Ranger District on July 8, continues to wreak havoc in the area. Fueled by dead and down debris and complicated by steep, rugged terrain, the fire has already scorched approximately 237 acres.

The community mourns the sudden loss of Kevin Struzan, owner of All Foreign and Domestic Used Auto Parts in The Dalles, OR who passed away on Sunday, July 2nd, at the age of 66 due to a massive stroke.

Ranchers, Farmers, volunteer firefighters and BLM work together to build firelines around a 3,500-acre blaze near Cottonwood Canyon State Park. Their efforts are paying off as crews are now watching for flare-ups as they have appeared to have contained the blaze.

UPDATED July 10, 2023 at 9 p.m. A 3,500 acre fire is burning in wheat fields near Cottonwood Canyon State Park. The fire began at approximately 10:35 a.m. on July 10th, 2023 and was reported to be in the are of Ajax Lane and highway 206 west of Condon, OR.

The Boulder Lake Fire, designated as #BoulderFire, has grown rapidly from 60 to 500 acres since it started on July 9th, 2023. Located approximately 13 miles west of Wamic, Oregon, weather conditions mean greater potential for fire growth.

Firefighters are being pulled in multiple directions as multiple fires have broken out in Oregon, including the uncontained 60-acre Boulder Fire just 13 air miles west of Wamic in tall timber in the Mt. Hood National Forest.

“Firefighters will monitor and hold the control line today around the fire perimeter. Windy, hot and dry conditions will contribute to the ongoing consumption of interior pockets of fuel within containment lines,” according to this morning’s update.

“I just want to give my insight and knowledge (as a student) to the board to help them make more beneficial decisions,” junior Kaleb Blaylock said. “It’s hard to see problems on the ground…”
