Summit Cedar Mill, located in Dallesport, experienced a significant fire yesterday that started around 3:00 p.m. The fire, initially triggered by one of the mill’s trucks catching fire, quickly spread due to high winds, igniting nearby stacks of wood.

Community of Cascade Locks to Celebrate “Captain Tom Day” May 30

One man unaccounted for, another escapes at house fire in The Dalles
Neighbors reported hearing gunfire as the flames consumed the home as unspent ammunition was exploding due to the heat. It appears one adult male perished in the fire, while the homeowner escaped.

The Skyline Health Foundation has awarded Washington Gorge Action Programs (WAGAP) $8,000 as part of its 2024 Community Health Grant, which supports non-profit organizations within the Columbia River Gorge that work to improve the health and well-being of the community within its service area.
TDHS Basketball receives third violation from OSAA; Fines on the year total $1,200

Free Lead Screenings for Toys and Yard Soil at the Wasco County Children’s Fair
North Central Public Health District (NCPHD) is excited to partner with the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) at this year’s Wasco County Children’s Fair to educate the public about the dangers of lead poisoning. OHA is offering free, confidential lead screening for soil and children’s toys on May 18th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Children’s Fair at The Dalles City Park.
