The City of The Dalles is seeking community input on tourism and the use of Transient Room Tax (TRT) revenues via a survey available on the City’s website and Facebook page, accepting responses until July 15th at 5:00 PM.
Library to Send 478 Cranes to Hiroshima
The Dalles-Wasco County Library has collected 478 cranes from the community as part of their 1,000 cranes project. The project was a cultural appreciation event for Asian and Pacific American Heritage Month.
Grand Jury Indicts Noe Zaragoza, Jr. On Murder in the Second Degree
Wasco County District Attorney Matthew Ellis announced the grand jury indicted Noe Zaragoza, Jr. (23) for Murder in the Second Degree, two counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon With a Firearm, Menacing, and Assault in the Fourth Degree. Zaragoza, Jr. was indicted on Wednesday, June 26.
NWPRD Plants More Trees at Sorosis Park
In a continued effort to restore Sorosis Park’s Northern Wasco County Parks and Recreation District (NWPRD) in collaboration with Alpenglow has planted 25 new trees at Sorosis Park.
Sherman County 4-H Day Camp Wraps Up Two Days of Outdoor Education and Excitement
The Sherman County 4-H Day Camp held June 12 and June 13 at Camp Morrow lakeside facility in Wamic resulted in many happy campers! Thirty campers, nine teen counselors, and eleven adult staff and instructors gave the youth an active, educational, and fun outdoor experience outdoors on Pine Hollow Reservoir.

Police are searching for a suspect involved in a fatal shooting that occurred early Saturday morning , June 22 in The Dalles, OR. The suspect has been deemed armed and dangerous, according to a press release from The Dalles Police Department.

Affordable Housing at 780 Rand Road Receives Final Pieces of Funding
The affordable housing development at 780 Rand Road has secured the final pieces of funding needed to move forward. Community Development Partners (CDP) and Columbia Cascade Housing Corporation (CCHC), the City of Hood River’s chosen developers for the project, have been awarded $36.4 million in private activity bonds and a 4% Low Income Housing Tax Credit allocation of $3.2 million by Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS).

Black in the Gorge's Juneteenth Celebration Draws 250 People
Over 250 people attended Black in the Gorge’s (BIG) 2nd annual Juneteenth celebration at Jackson Park in Hood River on Sunday, June 16. The event featured food, fun, and performances from Boka Marimba Band, dance lessons from African Dance Instructor Ebenezer “Ne” Amartey, the Gorge Freedom Choir, and a DJ.
