Continuing a tradition of a Christmas play to kick off the holiday season, Serious Theater is presenting a readers’ theater production of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Directed by Sue Matney, there is a lively cast of characters, complete with the grumpy Ebenezer Scrooge.

The Dalles Public Library is rolling out a full lineup of family crafts, teen activities, and holiday-themed programs as November heads into the winter season. Here’s a look at what’s coming up:

Effective December 1, 2025, The Link Public Transit will offer an Annual Dial-a-Ride Pass for $80, providing unlimited Dial-a-Ride service within Northern Wasco County, including The Dalles, Dufur, Mosier, Celilo, and unincorporated areas between these communities.

A full week of live music, film nights, dance events and community gatherings fills the Gorge from Nov. 18–24, with shows spanning The Dalles, Hood River, Cascade Locks and Trout Lake.

In response to the growing needs faced by local families, the The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with The Salvation Army and St. Vincent de Paul, has launched a community-wide collection drive to provide food, clothing, and toys for families in need this holiday season.

On October 26, 2025 at about 10:45pm City of The Dalles Police officers were alerted to a Burglary in progress at Grocery Outlet at 1300 west 6th street. Officers responded and the suspect was gone.

On Friday, November 7th, Detectives from The Dalles Police Department were awarded the Unit Citation for Excellence Award from The Oregon Police Officers Association (OPOA) at the annual OPOA awards ceremony.

Upon completing half of the Hostetler and W 6th St intersection with asphalt, the attached traffic control plan will be implemented. All Northbound traffic will need to detour at Snipes around the work area, making 6th St a single Southbound road between Snipes and Chenowith Loop.

The Dalles turned out Tuesday morning to honor local veterans with a short but spirited Veterans Day parade that rolled down W. 6th Street, featuring community groups, flag displays, and families bundled against the chilly weather.

Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), in a partnership with Wasco County Veteran Services, will launch a series of refreshed "Welcome to Wasco County" signs featuring the new byline "We Honor Veterans."

The season of giving begins with First Friday on November 7th in beautiful downtown The Dalles from 5-8 pm. QLife Network, a broadband service provider in Wasco County, was recognized with three awards at the 29th annual Oregon Telecommunications Connections Conference in Hood River last week.
