If you’ve walked through a supermarket lately, you’ve probably noticed produce prices that feel too high. Meanwhile, farmers like me are getting paid prices that are too low — often far below the cost of growing the food in the first place.

We have 33 energetic carolers from Colonel Wright Elementary preparing to sing in various places in The Dalles in December. This is our 15th year of caroling, directed by Ramona Harwood, their Music Specialist.

A surge of more than 350 runners, walkers, and families filled Lewis & Clark Park on Thanksgiving morning for the annual Turkey Trot, a community tradition that raised more than $17,000 this year for the Columbia Gorge Food Bank.

On Sunday, November 23rd, 2025, the Klickitat County Sheriff’s Office and Goldendale Police Department hosted the first-ever fundraising Flag Football Game at the Barthlow Field at Goldendale High School.

Get outdoors with friends and family and enjoy free fishing, crabbing, and clamming on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 28 and 29. Statewide free-fishing days are a great chance to take someone new fishing and celebrate Oregon’s natural resources.

Kiwanis meetings are held every Thursday at noon at Spooky's, and visitors are welcome.

The week of December 1, 2025, the City of The Dalles Public Works will work on E. 10th St. between Quinton St. and Roberts St. to replace and upgrade a stormwater sewer main. This project is part of the ongoing work on E 9th St. and Quinton St.

Continuing a tradition of a Christmas play to kick off the holiday season, Serious Theater is presenting a readers’ theater production of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Directed by Sue Matney, there is a lively cast of characters, complete with the grumpy Ebenezer Scrooge.

The Dalles Public Library is rolling out a full lineup of family crafts, teen activities, and holiday-themed programs as November heads into the winter season. Here’s a look at what’s coming up:

Effective December 1, 2025, The Link Public Transit will offer an Annual Dial-a-Ride Pass for $80, providing unlimited Dial-a-Ride service within Northern Wasco County, including The Dalles, Dufur, Mosier, Celilo, and unincorporated areas between these communities.

A full week of live music, film nights, dance events and community gatherings fills the Gorge from Nov. 18–24, with shows spanning The Dalles, Hood River, Cascade Locks and Trout Lake.

In response to the growing needs faced by local families, the The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with The Salvation Army and St. Vincent de Paul, has launched a community-wide collection drive to provide food, clothing, and toys for families in need this holiday season.

On October 26, 2025 at about 10:45pm City of The Dalles Police officers were alerted to a Burglary in progress at Grocery Outlet at 1300 west 6th street. Officers responded and the suspect was gone.

On Friday, November 7th, Detectives from The Dalles Police Department were awarded the Unit Citation for Excellence Award from The Oregon Police Officers Association (OPOA) at the annual OPOA awards ceremony.
