Train Fire in Lyle

Lyle, WA July 17, 2023– A Burlington Northern Santa Fe Train (BNSF) train experienced a fire in the generator compartment at the Lyle Cherry Orchard trailhead near Lyle, WA at around 6:40 p.m. on July 17. 

Bear Creek Fire Ignites North of Carson, WA

A wildfire, known as the Bear Creek Fire (PCC-167), broke out on the afternoon of July 16th, 2023, in Skamania County, Washington, North of Carson. The fire started at approximately 3:33 p.m. and quickly spread in the heavily forested area near Wind River Highway and Bear Creek Road. Officials estimate the fire's size to be around 5 acres, as reported by Air Attack.

Fire Round Up: Boulder still a smolder; Deschutes and The Devil die down

Fire managers say the Boulder Fire is now 10 percent contained and a revised estimate of the blaze shows it at 238 acres. The incident team is loaded with personnel and equipment to battle the blaze burning in downed timber in steep terrain. At the same time, firefighters are continuing to seek out hotspots and flare-ups on the Deschutes River and Devils Butte fires which charred thousands of acres.
