TD Subdivision appealed to Land Use Board Of Appeals
Attorneys for Legacy, Jordan Ramis PC, sent the notice of intent to appeal the decision to the Oregon Land Use Board of Appeals (LUBA) on Tuesday. Columbia Community Connection received a copy of the letter the same day.
A tale of two projects
Two projects are going on simultaneously within a few hundred yards of each other. Bremik Construction is working on the new skill center at Columbia Gorge Community College while just to the west brush and logs are being removed from Sorosis Park because of a tree die-off caused by the Ips beetle.
Update: Man hit on Fourth and Washington treated and released
One man was injured and taken to the hospital after a two-car collision at the intersection of Fourth and Court streets at about 12:30 p.m., today, Sept. 28.

Father Son Duo setting a strong foundation
Norman Pratt, 74, at right, and son Nathan, 45, work on preparing forms for the foundation of a single-family house at 2118 E. 12th St. this morning, Tuesday, Sept. 29. The duo intended to get an inspection done today and hopefully concrete trucks will arrive on Wednesday. However, there was that little detail of rebar. They were hoping to complete the installation of the steel reinforcement for the concrete today as well. The pair have great weather to work in as temps look to be in the low 80s all week with nary a cloud in sight.
Clarity from Supreme Court on Wasco DA to bring ‘smooth transition’
Incoming Wasco County District Attorney Matthew Ellis said the recent Oregon Supreme Court decision that puts District Attorney Eric Nisley back in office is welcome news. It’s clear now. Nisley will hold the office until Ellis takes the reins on January 1.
Volunteer flags 2-car collission in TD this morning
Ben Chandler of Carson took his dad to a medical appointment and found himself amidst a two-vehicle accident on Seventh St. in The Dalles this morning, Monday, Sept. 28. A Red Ford SUV and a Black Honda 4-door collided when one t-boned the other as it turned into the county offices at 419 E. 7th St.
Ferrer calls Rep. Bonham's ethics into question over recent newsletter
A recent newsletter mailed to some 57,000 constituents by State Representative Daniel Bonham, R-The Dalles, has local Debie Ferrer calling foul. Bonham maintains he did nothing wrong nor intended to circumvent house rules governing state representatives on newsletters.

Junior Lee, 41, puts a fine edge on the grass at a home in Columbia View Heights in The Dalles this morning, Friday, Sept. 25. Lee, with Big River Maintenance & Landscape, was not too worried about the rain this morning, opting for shorts and tank top. Forecasts are calling for more rain today with partially cloudy skies and warmer temps set for the weekend. Bigger rains west of the Cascades is likely to aid firefighters working blazes in Clackamas and Marion counties.

The Dalles Disposal Service Center receives between 2,500 to 3,000 pounds of recyclables a day, so where does it all go? Jim Winterbottom is the district manager of Waste Connections. Community puts Bill Byram Back on the Road
On Monday, the 21st, Bill Byrum was riding his motorcycle when he took an exit going eastbound off I-84 to enter The Dalles. It was his second day riding his new bike, so he was still adjusting to it. Bill lost control and hit a car leaving him severely injured. He was taken by LifeFlight to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland.
