Father Son Duo setting a strong foundation

Norman Pratt, 74, at right, and son Nathan, 45, work on preparing forms for the foundation of a single-family house at 2118 E. 12th St. this morning, Tuesday, Sept. 29. The duo intended to get an inspection done today and hopefully concrete trucks will arrive on Wednesday. However, there was that little detail of rebar. They were hoping to complete the installation of the steel reinforcement for the concrete today as well. The pair have great weather to work in as temps look to be in the low 80s all week with nary a cloud in sight.

Forecasts are calling for more rain today with partially cloudy skies and warmer temps set for the weekend. Recycling has always had its struggles, and China’s “National Sword” policy, enacted in January of 2018, has continued to place more limitations on local recycling facilities. The Dalles Disposal Service Center receives between 2,500 to 3,000 pounds of recyclables a day, so where does it all go? Jim Winterbottom is the district manager of Waste Connections.
