A male wolf that wandered into Klickitat County now has a female companion. Officials say it’s the first wolf pack in the region and may soon become a breeding pair.

Comprehensive Healthcare (CHC) has notified Klickitat County officials of its intent to close its two physical sites in the county, located at 112 W Main St in Goldendale, WA and 432 Tohomish St in White Salmon, WA. No specific date for the closures was provided to the County. 

Downtown White Salmon was filled with energy and excitement on May 13th, 2023, as local businesses, winemakers, and the White Salmon Arts Council joined forces to organize the White Salmon Wine Walk. The 1st annual round dance in honor of missing and murdered indigenous people will be held on Friday May 5th, 2023 from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Wahtonka Community School, in The Dalles, OR. The family friendly event is free to attend. All gorge community members, allies, and native people, are invited to gather, dance, raise community awareness, and promote healing together.

Columbia High School hosted a Career Day for high school students from White Salmon and the surrounding area to further their knowledge of careers available to them in their region on April 26th, 2023.

A fire occurred at Hot Wok Restaurant and Lounge located at 600 State St in Lyle, WA in the early afternoon of April 21st, 2023. 

Starting next Monday, April 24, 2023 the city of White Salmon, Washington water system will be undergoing a critical emergency repair that requires a complete pump replacement at the Well Field. This repair means that the city will need to fully bypass pulling water supply from those associated sources. As a result, the city is asking residents to conserve water use from Monday, April 24 through Friday, April 28 to minimize the impact of the reduced water supply during this repair.

April 21st is the last day to sumbit public input on The Lower White Salmon Coalition’s Draft Vision Plan for the lowest six miles of the White Salmon River. The plan envisions the future of conservation, restoration, and recreation on PacifiCorp's 500 plus acres that border both banks of the lower river.

GoForth Electric CarShare, a collaborative partnership between Forth, Mobility Development, and community-owned utilities is expanding its service area in the Columbia River Gorge to include Bingen and White Salmon, Washington. Services in Bingen and White Salmon may begin as early as June of 2023,

The Columbia Gorge Pride Alliance (CGPA) Columbia Gorge Pride was established in 2017 to create a secure space for the LGBTQIA2S+ community in the Gorge. To further understand the needs and strengths of the LGBTQIA2S+ community in the Columbia River Gorge, CGPA is conducting an online survey.

Lyle, Washington, is coming together for its annual community clean-up starting today, April 14th, and tomorrow, April 15th. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, volunteers and residents will be lending a hand, completing needed projects, and having some fun during the busy spring season.
