The Dalles Wasco County Library’s Second Saturday Storytime event series kicked off with an incredible turnout of over 100 people on Saturday Feb 10, 2024, much to the surprise of librarians.

On January 29, 2024, the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office contacted an abandoned vehicle stuck in a snow berm in Stevenson, Washington. The Sheriff’s Office was later notified by Portland Police Bureau the abandoned vehicle was involved with a missing person, Jeannie Enyeart, 47, from Portland.

The Columbia Gorge Resolution Center is asking citizens to sign a letter of support that will be presented during an upcoming legislative short session in which Wasco County and Mid-Columbia Center for Living will request $36.1 million in funding to build a 16-bed secure mental and behavioral health residential treatment facility (SRTF) and stabilization center on 10th and Walnut in The Dalles, OR.

Goldendale High School Wrestlers competed at the Sundome for District 5 Championships and rocked the brackets with 17 wrestlers placing in the top 7 on Friday, Feb. 2nd. 

“He refused a follow directions and resisted arrest,” the Trooper reported in the log. “He later refused a breath test and a warrant was obtained. The driver then provided a breath sample per the warrant with a result of 0.15 blood-alcohol content.”

While the possibility of foul play was a significant concern, authorities say they have found no evidence or probable cause to suspect criminal activity linked to Walker's death. "Though foul play cannot be ruled out completely, there is no evidence or probable cause to believe that a crime was committed," Sheriff Songer added, marking an end to the lengthy investigation.

McPherson, a graduate of The Dalles High School, said he enjoyed working for Crestline Construction, as they worked on replacing a sewer line at The Dalles Inn. The Gorge is looking at another drizzly week as highs hang in the low 40s and rain has got a 20 to 30 percent chance of showing up, according to the National Weather Service.

A Wasco County grand jury indicted local chiropractor, Andrew Houck on two counts of first-degree sex abuse on Jan. 24. CCCNews contacted Houck by phone at his business number for comment on Friday, Feb. 2. “I don’t have any comment,” he said.

“Our hopes and prayers go out to the guy,” Casey Pink said on Friday Morning. “He’s got a family. We’re just hoping he will be alright.”
